Since the tragic Rana Plaza factory collapse in April 2013, in which 1138 people lost their lives, Fashion Revolution week (just passed) was born to mark its anniversary and to encourage transparency in supply chains worldwide.
As part of one brands journey to a fairer and better working environment across its factories in China, and in conjunction with the ‘Who Made My Clothes’ movement, I’m very humbled to have had this opportunity to make a film about some of the stories of the people who make our clothes, highlighting a promising positive shift in the garment industry in China.

It was an honour to be on assignment with ‘Mission 001B’ for The Ocean CleanUp at The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Sending back daily videos and photos of their challenges, developments, and successes to their HQ was a task I enjoyed thoroughly. Here’s one of their in-house edits which includes some of my footage showcasing the missions achievements.

On this step of the Plastic Journey from trash to treasure, we have successfully recycled our plastic catch into granulate. This material will be used to make the first product from verified ocean plastic.
One of the common questions we receive is: why do we transport and process the plastic in the Netherlands? The answer is that, despite our best efforts, we were unable to find a suitable recycling partner for the material’s unique properties in North America. Processing in Europe also allows us to work with our recycling partner to gather data that can help us recycle closer to the source point once we scale up.
While we are currently looking to offset our activities where we can, the current catch was transported through established land and sea routes in order to have the least additional environmental impact as possible. As we scale, we are looking to improve this in the future.
